Interview with William Goudet

Q: Hi William, tell us about your career and how you ended up working for Skores.

A: I have a pretty unique background. Following the completion of my studies in business and marketing, I decided to focus on the sports industry by continuing my education with a Master’s degree in sports marketing. This led me to my internship with L’Équipe, where I worked with the digital marketing team. 

After I graduated, I wanted to take some time off before committing to a long-term position, so I traveled abroad to gain some new life experiences. I spent a year in Australia on a working holiday visa, which turned out to be an amazing adventure–exploring new jobs, meeting people from all walks of life, and discovering some truly incredible landscapes.

I returned to France recharged, with loads of unforgettable memories and a much stronger command of English. I was eager to get back into the sports industry, and Skores seemed like the perfect fit. It’s an international company deeply rooted in sports, with a dynamic and forward-thinking vibe.

 

What values do you appreciate the most at Skores? What do you like about the company?

The collaborative and inclusive culture at Skores is what stands out most to me. There’s a real sense of teamwork here which appeals to me. At Skores, my colleagues are approachable, open, and genuinely invested in supporting each other. The team spirit is palpable and gives me the feeling of being part of something bigger, and that motivates me to always give my best. 

Being part of such an international team is also incredibly enriching. We’re constantly learning from each other’s cultures and perspectives, which adds a lot of depth to our conversations and decisions.

Another thing I appreciate is how our shared passion for sports unites us as a team. From casual conversations to strategic decisions, that common interest fuels our motivation and strengthens our cohesion. 

And last but not least, the accessibility of our leadership team really stands out. Being able to speak freely to your superiors makes the work environment smooth and engaging. There’s no barrier–you can freely share ideas, and that’s motivating for me. 

As a Sales Manager, can you tell us about your arrival at Skores and what your role involves?

I had the great opportunity to onboard alongside my predecessor, Jean, for two months. That period was incredibly valuable—he provided thorough training and shared his insights, which helped me quickly build confidence and gain autonomy in the role.

As a Sales Manager, I’m the main point of contact for our clients—primarily sports betting brands. My role is much more than just sales; it’s about building long-term partnerships, understanding our clients’ goals, and ensuring we deliver results that meet their expectations.

A key part of my job is also serving as a bridge between our clients and our products. I work closely with different internal teams—content, finance, tech—to make sure that we fully understand client needs and reflect those needs in the solutions we deliver. Aligning client expectations with our products is key to creating real value. 

It’s a highly collaborative role that requires strong communication skills, a strategic mindset, and the ability to react quickly to changes. 

What qualities and skills are required to work as a Sales Manager at Skores?

Strong interpersonal skills are essential—whether you’re communicating with clients or internal teams, being able to build trust and adapt your approach is paramount. 

Being well-organized and able to prioritize tasks is also important. We often juggle multiple requests at once, so efficiency and time management skills are a must. 

You also need to be comfortable with working with numbers, since tracking performance and analyzing data are key parts of the role. And finally, resilience is a must—you shouldn’t be afraid to reach out to new contacts or handle unexpected challenges. 

What do you enjoy most about your job?

I really enjoy the human element of the role—whether it’s collaborating with colleagues or building relationships with partners, I find the connections I make at work incredibly rewarding. I also appreciate the dynamic nature of the work. No two days are ever the same, and that variety keeps things exciting. Every day brings new challenges and opportunities, which makes the job both stimulating and fulfilling.
